« For us, the cinema is addictive! »

In the Faucher family, the mother, Stéphanie declares, "With us, the cinema is addictive! My children had their first screening at two and a half years old!” Each week, the clan meets to see a film. A common passion that naturally led this Lyon family to join the festival's volunteer team. For four years now, Stéphanie Faucher has traded in her uniform as a cook at the university canteen "les Quais" for that of a volunteer." It was on the advice of my son Aymerick that we decided to take the plunge four years ago!”, confides Stéphanie. Accompanying the guests, welcoming and seating the public in the cinemas, Stéphanie is on all fronts, with an overflowing enthusiasm: "To have a festival like this in my native town is an opportunity and a source of pride". The youngest of the family, Kassandra, 18, is making her first comeback among the festival's volunteers. A passion for movies became a vocation for the young woman and her brother, both students at the University of Lyon 2: “Aymerick is a projectionist at the cultural centre of Ecully. As for me, I am pursuing art studies to work in the creation of sets and costumes for the cinema”. For Stéphanie, some of her dreams have come true at the festival: “My best memory is an unexpected encounter with one of my favourite actresses, Tilda Swinton. The Lumière festival makes things that seem inaccessible- accessible”. Impossible is not in the vocabulary of natives of Lyon!
